My favorite discoveries were the avatars, bloglines, and youtube.
It helped my goals on this cause I didn't know if I was able to finish the project. But I did, and I learned more about blogging than I ever knew.
Overall it was pretty easy to do a blog and get it started.
An idea is probably to have a blog about people that read books and recommending them to other patrons.
I would probably hold off on other web 2.0 programs, till I get more experience on the ones that I just learned.

Week 9: #22 Downloadable Media - POST
The downloadable media is really interesting. I never downloaded a book or audiobook, now that I kind of familiarized myself with I think I will download one. The HCPL Ebranch has quite a large title base. The HCPL website was really easy to use since I already have a library card. There were some titles on the website that looked interesting.

Week 9: #21 Podcasts, Smodcasts! - POST
Podcasts are really cool, I found interesting ones on music bands interviews. I sometimes listen to the podcasts that the radio stations do on artists. There are a lot of podcasts out there for just about every subject. I subscribed to the thisishouston podcast.

Week 9: #20 Discover YouTube and other video sharing sites - POST
I have experience using youtube.com websites whether i'm looking for music videos, live performances of bands, or seeing random things that they have on there. I think you can probably find anything on there that you are looking for. I've found movie trailers on there before they were posted on the official websites. I looked for this video of my favorite band TOOL, I didn't embedded it from youtube, but I got it from msn videos.
Why TOOL is COOL

Week 8: #19 Web-based Apps: They're not just for desktops - POST
The ZOHO web based program will be really useful. It is good to have all the applications all on one web based program. It even has chat on there so you can instant message a friend if you get writer's block. I like that it saves your documents on there and don't have to worry about remembering your usb drive.

Week 8: #18 Social Networking: Making friends in the comfort of your own home - POST
The world of social networking is really cool. I looked at the different networking sites and they were really interesting. My sister and cousins use the myspace site for staying in contact with each other. The yahoo 360 looks real easy to use since i have a yahoo account already. The threadless site was cool, so many interesting shirts. I have a friend who's into nascar and will recommend the infieldparking to him.

SILVER SEAL Antibacterial Dishwasher Safe Mouse & Keyboard
By Shane McGlaun
If you have small kids or work in an office where several people share your mouse and keyboard you are probably aware that the mouse and keyboard of most computers are hotbeds for germs and viruses. Seal Shield has a new mouse and keyboard called the SILVER SEAL that have antibacterial properties and can be washed in the dishwasher.
This is the ideal mouse and keyboard for use in medical settings since the silver ion is embedded into the plastic so the antibacterial properties don’t wear off over time. When it comes time to clean the mouse and keyboard of dirt and debris, they are both completely submergible and dishwasher safe. The SILVER SEAL mouse and keyboard will begin shipping in November at an undisclosed price.

Week 6: #15 On Library 2.0 & Web 2.0 - POST
I think the library will be more into the new world of librarianship. As more things are coming into the internet, the libraries will have to offer more services. Some of them are downloadable media, searching and placing holds from home. It should be interesting at how the libraries evolve over time.

Online safety
Online safety is a big thing, never know when somebody is watching. Never give out passwords or usernames. Always make sure you have a good internet security system to protect against these things. Don't open an email that you recieved that looks weird.Never give out personal information on the net.
